The difference
They look the same from the top. Turn them over and the difference is the whole product.
| What matters | Ordinary nail-on glide | Superior Glide |
|---|---|---|
| The face on the floor | ✕A thin felt disc or bare plastic, glued to a plastic cap. | ✓NR+CR rubber bonded to a rigid ABS body. It grips the floor without scratching or staining. |
| How it stays on | ✕One plain nail. The leg flexes, the nail works loose, and soon the nail head is what touches your floor. | ✓A tubular zinc rivet with an anti-rotation notch. It grips the wood fibers, does not spin, and refits in the same hole. |
| Sizing | ✕A round disc perched on a rectangular leg. | ✓A rectangular face sized to a rectangular leg, flush at the base. |
| Grit | ✕Flat felt traps it and drags it across the finish. | ✓A solid rubber face has no pile to hold it. |
| When it wears | ✕Throw the chair on its side and start again with a new nail hole. | ✓Tap the old one out, tap the new one in. Same hole, 90-day warranty. |
In more detail
A rectangular tube rail drifts along its long axis. Grip it in the middle and it still drifts. Grip both long edges and it stays put.
NR and CR rubber across the full rectangle, held on with extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive, for sled frames, metal rails, and hollow rectangular legs that can't take a rivet. Clean the leg, peel, line up the long axis, press, then give it 48 hours.
One size, 1-5/16" x 3/4" (33 x 19 mm).
Measure the leg base to find the right size. Rectangular legs have two different dimensions: length and width. You need both numbers.
Step 1: Flip or tilt the furniture
Lay the piece on its side or turn it upside down. You need full access to the flat bottom face of each leg where the rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glide will bond.
Step 2: Measure the long side, then the short side
Place a ruler across the longer edge of the leg base. Record in millimeters. Then measure the shorter edge. If both sides are equal, the leg is square. Use square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides instead.
Step 3: Check all contact points
On sled-base furniture, measure each contact point individually. As long as all points fall within 1-5/16"–1-9/16" (33–40 mm) x 3/4"–1" (19–25 mm), the same glide fits every contact point.
Sled frames: measure the flat contact area at the base of each runner, not the tube cross-section. Rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides bond to the flat underside where the frame contacts the floor. If the sled frame has multiple contact points per side, each point needs its own glide.
No tools. No drilling. No hardware. Every rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glide comes with extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive pre-applied.
Peel the backing, align the long axis, and press firmly. The whole job takes less time than reading this section.
What you need
Installation steps
Why directional alignment is critical: a rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glide misaligned by even 10° exposes significant edge length because the aspect ratio amplifies the error. Align long edge to long edge before pressing. Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive bonds on contact, so repositioning reduces bond strength.Removal: twist the glide while pulling gently to break the adhesive bond. Scrape all old adhesive from the leg. Clean with isopropyl alcohol and install a fresh glide.
The NR+CR rubber compound in rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides isn't commodity rubber. Natural rubber (NR) provides high-friction grip. Chloroprene rubber (CR) adds UV resistance, chemical stability, and prevents staining on light-colored hardwood.
How the grip works on rectangular legs
NR+CR rubber has a high coefficient of friction against smooth, hard surfaces. On rectangular legs, the grip is especially important along the long edges where lateral drift concentrates.
A round non-slip glide on a rectangular leg leaves both long edges exposed. Rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides provide end-to-end, edge-to-edge grip across the full footprint.
What NR+CR won't do
The CR component prevents the chemical staining that pure natural rubber causes on polyurethane-finished hardwood, light-colored vinyl, and sealed stone. NR+CR won't yellow, harden, or crack under normal indoor conditions.
It won't transfer color to the floor. Unlike silicone-based non-slip products, NR+CR doesn't leave residue when the glide is removed. Non-slip floor protectors that grip without damaging the finish.

Smooth, hard floor compatibility
NR+CR rubber is chemically stable and non-staining on all sealed floor finishes. The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) recommends furniture protectors on every leg as a primary hardwood maintenance step.
Rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides meet that standard while adding controlled grip along the full rectangular footprint. Non-slip hardwood floor protectors that are safe for every surface listed below.
Hardwood: solid and engineered, all speciesParquet, bamboo, reclaimed woodLaminate: all types and AC ratingsLuxury vinyl: LVP, LVT, sheet vinylCeramic and porcelain tileNatural stone: marble and granite (polished)Concrete: sealed, polished, epoxy-coatedCork flooringLinoleum and MarmoleumRough or textured hard floors: NR+CR rubber provides maximum grip on smooth surfaces. On rough, textured floors (unsealed concrete, natural cleft slate, travertine), the grip may be excessive. For rough floors, use rectangular self-adhesive furniture slides instead.
Furniture on boats, yachts, and cruise ships faces constant lateral force from wave motion, engine vibration, and course changes. Rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides are built for exactly this environment.
Why NR+CR works on water
The chloroprene rubber (CR) component resists salt spray, UV exposure, and the constant humidity cycling that degrades natural rubber. End-to-end grip along the long edges is critical on vessels, where lateral forces push furniture sideways along the long axis of the leg.
The high-friction NR+CR surface holds rectangular-legged furniture in position against wave-induced lateral forces on sealed teak, fiberglass, or cabin flooring.
Marine-specific benefits
Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive resists the humidity cycling and salt-air exposure found in marine environments. The adhesive-to-leg bond remains stable through temperature swings between open deck and climate-controlled cabin.
NR+CR rubber is non-staining on sealed teak, marine-grade vinyl, fiberglass decking, and polished cabin floors. Self-adhesive mounting is ideal for metal and composite marine furniture legs.
Common marine applications: mid-century and Scandinavian-style dining furniture in yacht salons and cruise ship dining rooms. Sled-base lounge seating in cabin spaces. Any rectangular-legged metal or composite furniture on a vessel where wave motion makes standard protectors inadequate.
Rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides are built on the same ABS platform and extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive system used across the self-adhesive line. The only difference is the contact surface.
Non-Slip: Rectangular Self-Adhesive Furniture Glides
High-friction NR+CR rubber for rectangular-legged furniture that must stay put. Mid-century accent tables, display furniture, sled-frame pieces, and marine seating on metal, plastic, or hollow tube legs. These are the non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides you're viewing now.

A round glide inscribed inside a rectangular leg covers only the center area. Both long edges and both narrow ends sit outside the glide perimeter with no rubber contact. Since rectangular legs concentrate lateral drift along those long edges, the exposed sections are exactly where the furniture slips first. Rectangular anti-slip self-adhesive furniture glides match the full footprint end to end, so every edge has NR+CR rubber gripping the floor.
One precision size: 1-5/16″ x 3/4″ (33 x 19 mm), fitting rectangular legs from 1-5/16″ x 3/4″ (33 x 19 mm) up to 1-9/16″ x 1″ (40 x 25 mm). This covers the vast majority of mid-century, Scandinavian, transitional, and contemporary rectangular legs, including sled-base contact points. If your leg exceeds 1-9/16″ x 1″ (40 x 25 mm), contact Business Solutions for oversized anti-slip options.
Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive builds bond strength progressively under weight, so each contact point on a sled frame develops its own strong bond independently. On rectangular legs, the long contact edge amplifies peeling forces during movement. Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive’s shear strength handles this without letting go. Clean each contact point with isopropyl alcohol before application. Each point needs its own glide.
Yes. The chloroprene rubber (CR) in the NR+CR blend resists salt spray, UV exposure, and humidity cycling. Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive remains stable through temperature swings between open deck and climate-controlled cabin. End-to-end grip along the long edges is especially important on vessels, where lateral wave forces push furniture sideways. Self-adhesive mounting is ideal for metal and composite marine furniture legs.
The rectangular aspect ratio amplifies misalignment. A glide rotated even 10° on a rectangular leg exposes more edge length than the same rotation on a square or round leg. Those exposed edges lose NR+CR contact with the floor. Align the glide’s long edge with the leg’s long edge before pressing. Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive bonds on contact, so repositioning after initial contact reduces bond strength.
It bonds to a rectangular metal or plastic leg with acrylic foam adhesive, then its grip face holds the furniture still on smooth floors, no nails and no drilling.
