The difference
They look the same from the top. Turn them over and the difference is the whole product.
| What matters | Ordinary nail-on glide | Superior Glide |
|---|---|---|
| The face on the floor | ✕A thin felt disc or bare plastic, glued to a plastic cap. | ✓NR+CR rubber bonded to a rigid ABS body. It grips the floor without scratching or staining. |
| How it stays on | ✕One plain nail. The leg flexes, the nail works loose, and soon the nail head is what touches your floor. | ✓A tubular zinc rivet with an anti-rotation notch. It grips the wood fibers, does not spin, and refits in the same hole. |
| Sizing | ✕One or two sizes in a blister pack, whatever the leg. | ✓Five square sizes matched to the leg base, so nothing overhangs and nothing catches. |
| Grit | ✕Flat felt traps it and drags it across the finish. | ✓A solid rubber face has no pile to hold it. |
| When it wears | ✕Throw the chair on its side and start again with a new nail hole. | ✓Tap the old one out, tap the new one in. Same hole, 90-day warranty. |
In more detail
Square tube legs are the ones that slide. Office chairs, folding tables, stacking frames. And there's nothing inside a square tube to take a rivet.
NR and CR rubber holds the leg in place, corner to corner, and extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive holds the glide to the leg. Clean the bottom first, peel, line up the corners, press. Full strength comes at 48 hours.
Five square sizes, 7/8" x 7/8" (23 x 23 mm) to 3" x 3" (75 x 75 mm).
Measure the leg base to find the right size. Square legs look simple, but tapered designs are wider at the top and narrower at the bottom.
The only measurement that matters is the flat face at the very bottom of the leg. With measuring takes 30 seconds.
Step 1: Flip or tilt the furniture
Lay the piece on its side or turn it upside down. You need full access to the flat bottom face of each leg where the square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glide will bond.
Step 2: Measure one side
Use a ruler across one edge of the flat base, in millimeters. Both sides should be equal. If the sides are noticeably different, the leg is rectangular. Use rectangular non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides instead.
Step 3: Match to the size chart
Select the square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glide whose range includes your measurement. If you're on a boundary, go with the smaller size so the glide stays inside the footprint.
Tapered square legs: always measure at the very bottom. Many modern designs taper significantly. The base is always smaller than the top. A leg that measures 1-9/16" (40 mm) at mid-height but 1-1/4" (32 mm) at the base needs the 1-1/8" x 1-1/8" (28 x 28 mm) glide, not the 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" (38 x 38 mm).
No tools. No drilling. No hardware. Every square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glide comes with extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive pre-applied.
Peel off the backing, align the corners, and press firmly. The whole job takes less time than reading this section.
What you need
Installation steps
Corner alignment matters: on a round glide, slight rotation has no effect. On square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides, even a small rotation exposes corners. Align all four edges before pressing. Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive bonds on contact, so repositioning reduces bond strength.Removal: twist the glide while pulling gently to break the adhesive bond. Scrape all old adhesive from the leg. Clean with isopropyl alcohol and install a fresh glide.
The NR+CR rubber compound in square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides isn't commodity rubber. Natural rubber (NR) provides high-friction grip. Chloroprene rubber (CR) adds UV resistance, chemical stability, and prevents the staining that cheap rubber causes on light-colored hardwood.
How the grip works on square legs
NR+CR rubber has a high coefficient of friction against smooth, hard surfaces. The rubber deforms microscopically into the floor's texture and resists lateral movement.
On square legs, this grip extends to all four corners, which is critical because corners are the highest-pressure contact points. A round non-slip glide on a square leg leaves corners exposed. Square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides provide corner-to-corner grip across the full footprint.
What NR+CR won't do
The CR component prevents the chemical staining that pure natural rubber causes on polyurethane-finished hardwood, light-colored vinyl, and sealed stone. NR+CR won't yellow, harden, or crack under normal indoor conditions.
It won't transfer color to the floor. And unlike silicone-based non-slip products, NR+CR doesn't leave residue when the glide is removed. Non-slip floor protectors that grip without damaging the finish.

Smooth, hard floor compatibility
NR+CR rubber is chemically stable and non-staining on all sealed floor finishes. The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) recommends furniture protectors on every leg as a primary hardwood maintenance step.
Square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides meet that standard while adding controlled grip across the full square footprint. Non-slip hardwood floor protectors that are safe for every surface listed below.
Hardwood: solid and engineered, all speciesParquet, bamboo, reclaimed woodLaminate: all types and AC ratingsLuxury vinyl: LVP, LVT, sheet vinylCeramic and porcelain tileNatural stone: marble and granite (polished)Concrete: sealed, polished, epoxy-coatedCork flooringLinoleum and MarmoleumRough or textured hard floors: NR+CR rubber provides maximum grip on smooth surfaces. On rough, textured floors (unsealed concrete, natural cleft slate, travertine), the grip may be excessive. For rough floors, use square self-adhesive furniture slides instead. The hard ABS base handles abrasive textures without excessive grip.
Furniture on boats, yachts, and cruise ships faces constant lateral force from wave motion, engine vibration, and course changes. Square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides are built for exactly this environment.
Why NR+CR works on water
The chloroprene rubber (CR) component resists salt spray, UV exposure, and the constant humidity cycling that degrades natural rubber. The high-friction NR+CR surface holds square-legged furniture in position against wave-induced lateral forces on sealed teak, fiberglass, or cabin flooring.
Corner-to-corner grip ensures no bare corner contacts the deck.
Marine-specific benefits
Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive resists the humidity cycling and salt-air exposure found in marine environments. The adhesive-to-leg bond remains stable through temperature swings between open deck and climate-controlled cabin.
NR+CR rubber is non-staining on sealed teak, marine-grade vinyl, fiberglass decking, and polished cabin floors. Self-adhesive mounting is ideal for metal and composite marine furniture legs.
Common marine applications: dining tables and bar stools in yacht salons and cruise ship dining rooms. Media consoles and lounge seating in cabin spaces. Any square-legged metal or composite furniture on a vessel where wave motion makes standard floor protectors inadequate.
Square non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides are built on the same ABS platform and extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive system used across the self-adhesive line. The only difference is the contact surface.
Non-Slip: Square Self-Adhesive Furniture Glides
High-friction NR+CR rubber for square-legged furniture that must stay put. Bar stools, accent tables, media consoles, display furniture, and marine seating on metal, plastic, or hollow tube legs. These are the non-slip self-adhesive furniture glides you're viewing now.

Both variants use the same ABS platform and extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive. Only the floor-contact surface differs: NR+CR for grip, PA6 for movement.
The glide shape must match the leg cross-section. All three non-slip shapes use the same NR+CR surface, ABS platform, and extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive.
Round Non-Slip

Square Non-Slip ← You're here.
For equal-sided square legs. Full corner-to-corner grip. Available from 7/8" x 7/8" (23 x 23 mm) to 3" x 3" (75 x 75 mm).
Rectangular Non-Slip
For rectangular legs with unequal sides. 1-5/16" x 3/4" (33 x 19 mm).
Measure the widest point of the flat base of the leg, then choose the size on that row. The part should sit flush with the leg or just inside it. Not wider.
| Size (W × L) | Fits legs measuring |
|---|---|
| 7/8" x 7/8" (23 x 23 mm) | 7/8" to 1" (23 to 27 mm) |
| 1-1/8" x 1-1/8" (28 x 28 mm) | 1-1/8" to 1-7/16" (28 to 37 mm) |

A round glide inscribed inside a square leg covers only the center area. All four corners sit outside the glide perimeter with no rubber contact. Since corners are the highest-pressure contact points on a square leg, they slip first when lateral force is applied. Square anti-slip self-adhesive furniture glides match the full square footprint, so every corner has NR+CR rubber gripping the floor.
Both use the same ABS platform, the same extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive, and the same five sizes. The difference is the floor-contact surface. Square self-adhesive furniture glides (Smooth Glide) use low-friction PA6 fiber for furniture that needs to move freely, like dining chairs. Square anti-slip self-adhesive furniture glides use NR+CR rubber for furniture that must stay put, like bar stools and media consoles.
Yes. The chloroprene rubber (CR) in the NR+CR blend resists salt spray, UV exposure, and the constant humidity cycling found in marine environments. Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive remains stable through temperature swings between open deck and climate-controlled cabin. The corner-to-corner grip holds square-legged furniture in position against wave-induced lateral forces on sealed teak, fiberglass, and polished cabin floors.
Yes. Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive is designed for clean removal. Twist-and-pull breaks the bond without damaging the leg surface. Any residual adhesive scrapes off cleanly with isopropyl alcohol. The NR+CR rubber surface is also non-staining on all sealed floor finishes. Neither the adhesive nor the rubber will discolor, mark, or leave residue on hardwood, vinyl, tile, or stone.
Yes. On a round glide, slight rotation has no effect because the profile is symmetrical. On a square anti-slip self-adhesive furniture glide, even a small rotation exposes one or more corners to the floor, creating bare contact points without grip. Align all four edges of the glide with the leg edges before pressing. Extra-high-bond acrylic foam adhesive bonds on contact, so repositioning after initial contact reduces bond strength.
When furniture creeping is the problem rather than scraping. One square anti slip glide under each leg holds a table or chair in position on a smooth hard floor.
