How often does a server shim a table during service?

Nobody complains to a manager about the floor. They complain about the table. Leveling feet end the wobble; the right glide or slide ends the scrape on tile, wood and carpet, and stops the dining room sounding like a cafeteria.

The problem

The three complaints that reach the pass.

The wobbling table

Folded napkins and coasters under a leg mean the problem is live every shift. A threaded leveling foot with a floor-matched pad is set once and stays set.

Chairs on grouted tile

Grout lines catch a fiber face at every joint, which is why felt and fiber glides shred on tile. A hard ABS slide crosses the joint instead.

Noise at full covers

Sixty chairs pulled out on hardwood or polished concrete is the loudest thing in the room. A PA6 face on a sized glide moves silently on a smooth hard floor.

What goes where

What goes where in a dining room.

Every card links to the line. Sizes and mountings are on the product pages; the quote names them for you.

Dining chairs on wood, LVT or smooth tile

Wood legs: nail-on glides with a tubular rivet. Metal legs: self-adhesive glides. Sized to the leg so the edge is less likely to catch.

Dining chairs on grouted tile or carpet

Hard ABS slides, nail-on or self-adhesive. The face is harder than the carpet fiber, which is the opposite of a PTFE slide.

Tables and bar-height bases

Adjustable leveling feet with a pad for the floor. Low-profile bases for stands and equipment that must sit close to the floor.

Metal-frame and patio chairs

Hollow tube legs take a plug with a floor-contact face, or a threaded insert and foot where the frame allows it.

Proof

The white glide was softer than the carpet it sat on.

Restaurant dining room · commercial carpet

PTFE sits around 50 to 60 Shore D. Nylon commercial carpet fiber sits around 100 to 120 Rockwell R. The glide was the softest thing in the room, so it wore instead of the floor. Four chairs were refitted with a hard-faced slide as the trial, with the heavier tables assessed next. Specified by our team for a restaurant dining room.

How buying works

From first email to delivered order, in four steps.

01  Tell us what you have

Floor type, furniture type, a rough count. A photo of a leg with a ruler beside it saves a round of email.

02  Spec and samples

Once we know the furniture and the floor, we put the product, size and mounting in writing and send samples of what we recommend. Free for businesses.

03  Quote at your quantity

The quote says which sizes are in stock and which are made to order, with the ship date in writing.

04  Confirm and order

Reply to the quote and we set the order up by email, the way your business normally buys. Reorders run off the spec on file.

Straight answers

Questions we get from restaurants and food service.

We are one restaurant, not a group. Is that too small?

A single site can usually order online once we have settled the size together. For a group, a quote tends to work better.

Normal. Send a photo of each leg base with a ruler, and a photo of each floor. The spec sheet lists every combination.

Leveling feet marked In stock ship nationwide. Check the thread on the existing foot, or send a photo, and we confirm the size by email.

Nail-on glides pull and refit in the same hole. Self-adhesive glides come off with a blade and the leg is cleaned with alcohol before a new one goes on.

Ready when you are
