Sled Base Glides

Sled base furniture rides on curved metal runners instead of individual legs. Every contact point where bare metal meets the floor is a scratch waiting to happen. Sled base glides mount to the runner at every floor contact position: straight sections, bends, and tube ends. Polyamide saddle glides cradle the round tube runner and provide smooth, non-scratching floor contact across the entire frame. Works on all hard floors and on carpet, carpet tile, and area rugs.

Works on all hard floors and carpet·Round, rectangular, and oval tube profiles·Mid-runner, corner, end, and clip-on options

Choose Your Mounting Position

A sled base frame has three distinct zones that need floor protection. Mid-runner glides cover the straight sections. Corner glides cover the bends. End glides and clip-on glides cover the tube ends. Choose based on where the tube contacts the floor.

MID-RUNNER

Mid-Runner Glides

For straight horizontal sections of the runner where the tube lies flat on the floor. The saddle cradles the tube from below. Screw-mount through the tube wall.

CORNER

Corner Glides

For the bend where the runner curves into the vertical riser. The extended base spans the full transition zone. The bend is often the highest-stress contact point on a sled chair.

END / CLIP-ON

End Glides and Clip-On

For open tube ends and wireframe sled furniture. End glides insert into the tube end. Clip-on glides snap onto wireframe runners without screws.

Oval Tube End Sled Base Glides — Rectangular Base

From $2.97

Mid-Runner Sled Base Glides

For the straight horizontal sections of the runner. The polyamide saddle cradles the tube from below and is secured with screws through the tube wall. Tube diameters from Ø 20 to Ø 30 mm in multiple base shapes. Five variants give you the right footprint for everything from lightweight residential to heavy commercial sled furniture.

Corner Sled Base Glides

For the bend where the horizontal runner curves upward into the vertical riser. The extended base spans the full transition zone. Mid-runner glides cannot fit here because the tube is curved. Three configurations cover single-screw mount, standard two-screw mount, and pad-slot version for scratch-sensitive floors.

End Glides and Clip-On Glides

For open tube ends and wireframe sled furniture. End glides are inserted into the tube end and secured with screws. Clip-on glides snap onto Ø 10 mm wireframe runners without any fasteners. Three tube shapes (round, rectangular, oval) plus the clip-on wireframe option cover the full range of sled tube terminations.

Flat-Bottom Nail-On Sled Base Glides — Rectangular Base

For furniture that contacts the floor along a straight edge rather than a round tube runner. Mounts along flat bottom rails, rocking chair runners, and any straight floor-contact edge where saddle-mount glides cannot provide coverage. Nail-on installation instead of saddle screw-mount.

Floor Compatibility

Sled base glides work on all hard floors and on carpet, carpet tile, and area rugs. The polyamide saddle is abrasion-resistant and handles both smooth and textured surfaces. Pad slot products give you the option to add a PA6 pad for scratch-sensitive floors.

ALL HARD FLOORS + CARPET

Without Pad — All Hard Floors and Carpet

The bare polyamide saddle works across every floor type. Smooth hardwood, vinyl, laminate, and tile. Textured tile, slate, stamped concrete, and brushed stone. Carpet, carpet tile, and area rugs. The saddle slides smoothly without snagging carpet pile or wearing on abrasive surfaces.

SMOOTH HARDWOOD + LVP

With PA6 Pad — Scratch-Sensitive Floors

For pad slot products, fit a PA6 pad into the slot to optimize the glide for scratch-sensitive smooth floors: hardwood, luxury vinyl, laminate. The needle-punched fiber pad provides extra-soft floor contact for finished surfaces that show wear easily. Use without the pad for everything else.

Sled Base Glides vs Standard Furniture Glides

Both protect floors from furniture, but the underlying furniture geometry decides which one fits. Sled base furniture rides on a continuous metal runner; standard furniture rests on individual legs.

SLED BASE GLIDES

Sled Base Glides (this page)

Polyamide saddle glides that cradle the round tube runner from below. Screw-mount or friction clip-on. Multiple mounting positions: mid-runner, corner, and tube end. Sized by tube diameter (Ø 10 to Ø 30 mm). Best for cantilever chairs, U-frame chairs, sled-base stools, wireframe seating, and any furniture with a continuous tube runner that contacts the floor.

STANDARD FURNITURE GLIDES

Standard Furniture Glides

PA6 fiber or anti-slip rubber surface on an ABS platform. Nail-on or self-adhesive. Mounted to the bottom of each leg. Sized by leg cross-section: round (Ø 23 to Ø 75 mm), square (23 × 23 to 75 × 75 mm), or rectangular. Best for dining chairs, tables, desks, bar stools, and any standard furniture with four discrete legs.

Installation

Two installation methods depending on the glide type. Saddle glides bolt onto the tube with self-tapping screws. Clip-on glides snap on without fasteners.

SCREW-MOUNT

Saddle Glides (Screw-Mount)

Position the glide on the runner so the saddle cradles the tube. Mark and pre-drill through the tube wall using the holes in the glide as a guide. Drive self-tapping screws through the glide into the tube. The saddle should sit snug against the tube with no gap. Screws not included. Source self-tapping screws sized for your tube wall thickness.

FRICTION CLIP-ON

Clip-On Glides

Press the clip-on glide onto the runner end. The friction clip grips the tube without screws. Slide along the tube to the position. No tools, no fasteners. For Ø 10 mm wireframe runners only. Removable and reusable.
