Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between ellipse and oval tubes?

Ellipse tubes have a more elongated, narrower profile than oval tubes. The cross-section is more pointed at the ends. If your tube has a football-like shape with pointed ends, it’s likely elliptical. If it’s more uniformly curved, it’s oval. Measure and compare to both size charts.

How do I measure an ellipse tube?

Measure the short axis (width) and the long axis (length) of the opening in millimeters. Then measure wall thickness. Match to the 2 sizes: 15 × 30 mm or 20 × 40 mm.

Why only 2 sizes?

Elliptical tubing is less common than round, square, or oval in furniture manufacturing. The 2 sizes cover the most frequently used elliptical dimensions. For other sizes, contact Business Solutions.

Can I use an oval plug in an elliptical tube?

Not recommended. The curve profiles are different. An oval plug in an elliptical tube will have gaps at the pointed ends and may not grip evenly. Use the correct ellipse-shaped plug for a proper fit.

Are these installed the same as round plugs?

Same press-fit method with flexible ribs. Orient the long axis of the plug with the long axis of the tube, then press in. The PE ribs compress and grip the inner wall.
